The most reliable and convenient method of providing a completely anoxic (oxygen-free) and isolate microclimate is by creating a flexible container made of laminated barrier film that has been heat-sealed to form a hermetically-sealed bag. Single layer structure of film are quite permeable to most gases, while barrier films lamination has been designed to be impervious to gas migration.

Almost all gas (oxygent) barrier films are made of multiple lamination. The outer layer will be a printable (usually transparent) plastic with a relatively high melting point, often made of polyester, nylon, or polypropylene. The middle layer will be a layer of gas barrier material like foil or clear coated barrier film of many kinds. The inside/bottom layer is the sealable layer to forming the packaging with low density polyethylene or polypropylene, which is lower melting point than the outer layers. Additional physical function layers (usually Nylon) is applied to increase the mechanic properties of the film.

Clear High Barrier Lamination:

Oxygen barrier films are used in the packaging industry for both economic and performance reasons. The barrier performance of these nano-composite materials is much improved over typical PVdC and ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) barrier resins typically used in packaging films, however they are the edge of elimination and replaced by more economy solution of vaccum aluminum oxide (AlOx) coating film lamination. While most commercial activity today is in the area of dry foods, prototypes have been made for liquid packaging and chilled packaging as well, even largely applied by the East Asia market for retort high level oxygen barrier packaging for canned food up to 2 years shelf life standard. And application methods have varied widely, with gravure, flexo and roller coatings all being successful.

The outer support layer is often surprisingly thin, and the middle barrier layer can sometimes be of microscopic thickness. Because it is the compostion of the barrier material, and not its thickness that is most functioning in determining its permeability. Metal foil, usually aluminum foil is generally the most effective gas barrier material, closely followed closely by transparent ceramic barriers. Vacuum metalized film (sputtered aluminum), EVOH, barrier nylon(PVDC coated) are transparent plastic barrier layers often used in the food industry. The barrier layer of aluminium oxide (AlOx) is similar in composition to Teflon, and is considered an effective oxygen barrier comparing to foil laminates. Applications:

Oxygen Barrier films are used for storage of oxygen sensitive materials, like Jerky, meat, dairy, organic food, snack food, canned food and sensitive pet food, but may also be used as a barrier layer to isolate showcase interiors from the showcase material. Oxygen Barrier films are used for diaphragms when creating oxygen-free packaging structure.

Sealing layer of Haide oxygen barrier film applies DH LLDPE (linear low density polyethylene) cast film made with the T-die extrusion technology. It has outstanding gloss, transparency, good heat seal strength, cold resistance, hot tack strength and sealing properties for high speed packing to save client end cost and better efficiency.
