TOP ENTRY MIXER

INTRODUCTION:

Top Entry Mixers cover more than 80% of all that RIXU builds every year, because they are widely installed in all industries as long as there is a demand for liquid mixing.

Flexible installations make the Top Entry Mixer popular. They can be installed in many ways with lifting stand, pedestal, flange, and clamping device. They are portable, movable, or fixed onto walls and tanks.

For a container with atmosphere pressure, the Top Entry Mixer goes with simple shaft sealing like lip seal; while in case it is a pressurized tank or vacuum is required, the Top Entry Mixer is sealed by stuffing box or mechanical seal.

IMPELLERS:

A lot of options of impeller are available at RIXU, depending on the processing requirement and the working environment that it is going to be installed in, for example: Marine Propeller, Hi-flow Impeller, Pitched Blade Turbine, Anchor with Scraper, and Rushton Turbine.

SPECIAL DESIGN:

RIXU also builds the special designs of Top Entry Mixers:

1) High Shear Mixer

2) Jet-flow Mixer

3) Co-axial Mixer

1) High Shear Mixer

High shear mixer is widely used in emulsifying and particle reduction applications. High shear mixers work with a special designed stator/rotor working head.

When it works, this stator/rotor head is able to draw the solids and liquids around it into its center, and then push them radially through the stator openings back to the tank. During this period, the solids and liquids are subject to an action of milling and shearing which is so intensive that they are deagglomerated, homogenized and dispersed into each other even though they are immiscible by traditional agitation.

RIXU provides several types of stator/rotor elements. Besides top entry type, RIXU also provides bottom entry high shear mixer.

2) Jet-flow Mixer

Jet-flow mixer is used where homogenizing, dispersing, suspending, emulsifying, dissolving are all required. Jet-flow mixer functions with its special designed stator/rotor system. The rotor is usually a turbine impeller, and the stator is a curved guide tube surrounding the rotor.

When it works, the rotor generates a strong axial flow from the surface of the liquid, going through the stator tube and towards the bottom. In this manner, floating powder is drawn into the liquid, and sedimentation is lifted up.

Advantages of a jet-flow mixer compared with a conventional agitator are free of aeration, no floating powder, no sedimentation, no additional baffles, no flow dead zones, and very high efficient that a small motor can keep large volumes in motion.

3) Co-axial Mixer:

Co-axial mixer is fitted with two drives: an anchor / scraper drive and a centrally mounted turbine drive. In effect it is two mixers joined together.

Co-axial mixers have the advantage to combine the benefits of a turbine unit along with that of an anchor / scraper. They offer excellent mixing throughout the vessel as viscosities increase due to their double mix system.

Co-axial mixers are typically used when thick emulsions are produced by a bottom entry high shear emulsifier or homogenizer. They are also very useful for multi task vessels where different process duties are required.
